In order for the learners to achieve their City and Guilds Level 2 Employability Skills qualification the learners at Military Preparation Schools (MPS) must complete a local community project. As a group the learners agreed and decide to attend a local care home.
On Wednesday 16th January 2019 learners from MPS Cardiff attended a local care home Shire Hall on Dumballs road, Cardiff. The learners in question were from year 11 Mary Immaculate High School, Leo Brockway and two learners from year 9, Dylan Morgan and Maddison Coleman from Cowbridge Comprehensive School.
The day consisted of engaging with the care home residence playing games, puzzles and completing arts and crafts activities. This was a community project the learners thoroughly enjoyed thanks to the hospitably of Shire Hall and all their staff and are very much looking forward to potentially attending again in the near future.
During the day the learners got a chance to work on their leadership and communication skills by speaking to members of staff and the residence. The learners demonstrated professionalism and great enthusiasm to ensure the residents felt at ease and enjoyed themselves.
Well done to all Learners involved, the care home were very impressed.
